Youth Development

Karen Bruce KB Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation (also club treasurer) took time out to introduce and amend warmup/cool down routines with some of our youth teams last week. Karen introduced some of them to resistance bands and others with increased resistance level.

She demonstrated technique and explained why this is so important. These are all areas girls are sometimes very relaxed about however they are the main factors to prevent injury.

Efforts recognised by Scottish FA Grassroots Awards –  Best Volunteer in Girls’ / Women’s Football

Congratulations to Nicola McBride, our club chairperson on her much deserved award, presented by The Sunday Mail and McDonalds.

Nicola attended Tannadice on Saturday to receive this award along with many other very valuable volunteers giving so much in community football.

Nicola has led the development at the club, from mini kickers through to adult teams for women for many years and is instrumental to the running of the club. Many who know Nicola will also agree her commitment and efforts at being recognised are fully deserved.

“I am delighted to receive the Sunday Mail/McDonald’s award. I enjoy being part of the football journey for many girls who have come through our pathway from juniors to SWPL1. We are now focusing on our rebuild to senior football and offering the girls coming through something to strive for whether it be performance or recreational opportunities.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our own club volunteers as it’s down to the support of our committee and coaches and what we work so hard to achieve as a club. The importance of quality coaching and support for each other is all very much appreciated. Your valuable time as volunteers is the only reason we can build and strive to progress and develop the girls to be the best they can be.” 👍💙⚽👏

Hamilton Welcomes Opportunity – 18NAP

We are delighted to announce Gary Hamilton will take on the Head coach role for our 18s National Academy Programme for 2022/23 season.

Gary has been a very committed coach at Carnoustie Panmure YFC, having lead the 2005s since 2010, seeing the squad through Fun Fours, Seven a Side and into 11 a side football, through to the end of last season.

Speaking to Gary about the role he said “I am very passionate about coaching, and in particular the development of young footballers and seeing them progress gives me a huge amount of satisfaction. I achieved my SFA C Licence in 2018 and at the end of last year, following a 18 month course of assignments and on field coaching practices, achieved by UEFA B Licence at the first attempt.

I feel the time is right for a new chapter in my coaching career and with women’s football continuing to grow with attendances and publicity on the rise on a global scale, I’m delighted to have been given this opportunity. With over 200 at our last home game of the season, this shows there is great interest locally too.

My aim will be to give the team a style of play that gives the team a clear identity, but more importantly, a style of play that I believe gives all the players the best chance to develop and improve individually.

Towards the end of last season, I have taken a few sessions with the squad, there is good quality throughout the squad and I can’t wait to get started.”
