Forfar Farmington Women 6 v 2 Stonehaven Ladies

The squad knew what was required yesterday as we travelled to Stonehaven, knowing a point would clinch the title and right from the first whistle, they were brilliant. Just 4 minutes in, Alex Fox played a through ball to Cheryl Kilcoyne, who created a yard of space before shooting from distance into the bottom left hand corner.

The second goal came not long after when Caitlin Colquhoun played a 30 yard pass right through the Stonehaven team. Cheryl did well to run in behind, take a touch and fire the ball into the bottom left hand corner to make it 0-2.

We pushed and pushed, enjoying the majority of possession and could have scored several more but were unlucky in the final third.

We did make it 0-3 when Alex found Chloe Laird at the back post from a corner kick and she bulleted in the header.

Not long after, Chloe got her second goal of the game from another corner kick as she knocked home the loose ball after a scramble in the 6 yard box.

HT 0-4

In the second half, Forfar made 7 changes which meant the squad all got a run out and everyone gave 100% and worked together as a team.

Cheryl picked the ball up in the middle of the park, beat a couple of the Stonehaven players before playing Claire Hendry through on goal. Claire took the ball around the keeper before passing the ball into the empty net.

Not long after, Claire had a fantastic shot saved by the Stonehaven keeper, however Chloe Dunn reacted quickest and slotted the ball home to make it 0-6.

Stonehaven made the most of their opportunities when a loose ball was played in behind the our defence. The Stonehaven player shot to which Leah Wood saved, however the keeper couldn’t prevent the second shot that came right after, 1-6.

Stonehaven were then awarded a penalty for a handball in the box which was well converted to finish the scoring 2-6.

The 3 points meant that we are BIFFA SWFL North League Champions 🏆
Thank you to all our supporters for making the trip to Mineralwell Park 💙👍.
