New Signing | Cassie Cowper

The club are delighted to announce our first signing of the 2018 season as Cassie Cowper joins from Aberdeen.

Cowper, 19, spent the last six years at Aberdeen and moves to Farmington as we return to the Scottish Building Society Scottish Women’s Premier League One.

Speaking following her move, the defender felt it was the right time to move on from the Dons with the Granite City side relegated to the second tier in 2017.

“I am happy to have signed, I spent 6 years at Aberdeen and I felt like it was the right time to move on. I’m looking forward to this season with the girls and with the club’s ideas.”

Cowper had worked with head coach Mark Nisbet previously during his spell up north as a coach and is looking forward to working under him again at Farmington.

She said: “I have worked with Mark before when he came to Aberdeen and enjoyed his coaching a lot, he tried to sign me previously but it wasn’t the right time, but I feel like now is.”

“I’ve heard good things from people about the girls and the club as a whole so I am excited to see it and be involved.”

The former Scotland U19 internationalist knows what is to be expected in the top flight having played for Aberdeen and hopes she can build on this in 2018.

“I have played a lot of games in SWPL1; I’m hoping that the experience of playing so many games helps me and also the girls when we are playing this season.”

Cowper trained with her new teammates as pre-season began on Sunday and she reckons they have what it takes to right the wrongs of their last year in the top flight when they were relegated.

“It was very important Forfar got promoted again for the club, this season’s main goal is to stay in the league and from what I’ve seen the girls are more than capable to do this.”
