Forfar Farmington extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League Two with a 4-0 demolition of Buchan.
Julia Scott’s first half opener was added to by Laura Parsley, Robyn Smith and Kayleigh Noble as Farmington coasted to victory, restricting the hosts to long range efforts.
Forfar started well and opened the scoring just two minutes in as Julia Scott rose to head home Robyn Smith’s cross.
Buchan could have levelled eight minutes later through Leanne Reid’s 35 yard free kick but it was just too high and rattled the crossbar before going over.
Alison Debio came close to an impressive first goal for the club but couldn’t keep her effort down with it flying inches over the bar.
Megan McCarthy and Laura Parsley saw chances go off target as Farmington kept up the pressure on the Buchan defence.
Kirsty Deans fired over with captain Nicola Davidson doing the same shortly before the half hour mark.
Davidson forced former Farmington trialist Lauren Sangster into a save from her free kick in the 34th minute before Gemma Collier had a shot cleared off the line from a Scott corner.
Robyn Smith tested Sangster twice while Scott hit the post with a cross-cum-shot as Farmington went into half time a goal ahead.
They doubled that lead ninety seconds after the break with Parsley rising to nod home a Scott corner.
Scott and Erin Cattanach came close just after but it was Robyn Smith who added to the tally in the 55th minute; great work from Cattanach allowed Smith to run from her own half before driving the ball past Sangster from 20 yards.
Beth Shillitto came on shortly after the hour mark and was close to netting just minutes after coming on but for the Buchan defence blocking her effort.
Leanne Reid fired over from long range before Scott curled past the post after cutting in from the left wing.
Deans blasted over from the edge of the box while Zoe Smart came the closest for the hosts as she sent an effort into Fiona McNicoll’s arms from 20 yards.
Kayleigh Noble completed the scoring with three minutes to go; lashing home from just inside the box after Buchan failed to clear their lines.
The result means Forfar Farmington move four points ahead of their title rivals and are unbeaten after the first round of games with six wins and one draw.
They now face a fortnight wait until their next game which is a top of the table clash at Station Park against Glasgow Girls.
