Forfar Farmington welcomed a young Monifieth Team to Station Park, in perfect weather, for the first game of this years U17 League Cup competition.
A more confident Forfar team dominated from the start and continued to show their excellent passing and movement off the ball. The Monifieth goalkeeper continued her excellent form from last week as Forfar came close early on.
Zoe Moreland opened the scoring on 6 minutes scoring from space after the ball was cutback from the goal line.
Lois Millar extended the lead 6 minutes later, driving a shot home at the near post after a winding run into the box by Caitlin Mitchell.
Sally Patterson scored her first in the 24th minutes, running through on goal after a lay off by Zoe Moreland.
Monifieth pulled one back with a well taken chance directed away from the Forfar Goalkeeper, high into the net. Almost immediately, Emily Grundy scored her first goal of the season as she bundled the ball over the line after a cross from Carrie Hoggan wasn’t cleared.
Sally Patterson added her second of the game, again running though on goal, and slotting the ball under the on rushing goalkeeper not long before the break.
The second half started as the first had ended with Monifieth doggedly defending and their goalkeeper working hard to limit goals scored.
Forfar continued to create good chances throughout the game and full back Leah White’s positive supporting play throughout the game was rewarded with a goal after 11 minutes.
Rebecca McMillan scored a screamer high into the corner from the edge of the box, as she ventured forward more often.
Ellie Cook scored into an empty goal after she was unselfishly left the chance by Emily Grundy.
Erin Ross rounded off the scoring for Forfar on 68 minutes with a well deserved goal after coming close on several occasions throughout the match.
Monifieth didn’t give up and continued to try and get back into the game until the very end.
