The team comes into the 2019 season off of the back of a tough off season. With only 9 players remaining from the 2018 league and cup double winning side both Steve and Erin have been hard at work trying to recruit players for side. Their efforts have paid off with the addition of goalkeeper Beth Mowatt and defender Katie Prest from last years 17’s team as well as the double signing of Liberty Whyte from Monifieth and Halle Greenwood from Montrose.

We sat down to see what Steve had to say on his team’s prospects for the season ahead:

“We are going to be playing in the South-East league this season and I am expecting this to be a good challenge for the girls. I am sure the girls are up for it.”

“We started training on the 8th of January and had our first friendly a couple of weeks after that against Jeanfield 19’s as we are planning to move up to 19’s next season. This was a very good game where we learned a lot that we needed to work on before the season starts this year, and for moving to under 19’s next year.”

“We have been training very hard with three sessions a week. Two of these are ball work looking at improving technique and the other is physical circuit session, which Erin has had the girls working hard throughout.”

“We just recently had a friendly against Gleniffer Thistle, this was also a very good game for the girls. We won this 4-2 against opponent who we were very evenly matched against. The girls showed good fight and showed what we are working on in training is paying off.”

“We are looking forward to starting our season against Hearts in the league cup on March 3rd, with the league starting a week later where we are away to Blackburn United.”
